The story

Tim Ferriss did not start out living an enviable life. After college he took a sales job with punishing hours, then founded a supplement business that he ran from a home office, chained to email, working every day of the week and burning out. By his own account he came close to quitting entirely.

Instead of pushing harder, he started treating his own life like an experiment. He cut the customers and tasks that produced little, applied the 80/20 rule, automated and outsourced what remained, and tested whether the business could run without him. It could, and the experiment freed him to travel and learn full-time.

He wrote up the method as The 4-Hour Workweek. Dozens of publishers rejected it before one took a chance, and it became a phenomenon, spending years on the bestseller list and turning him into a leading voice on lifestyle design. He went on to become an early investor in companies like Uber and Shopify, and to host The Tim Ferriss Show, one of the most downloaded podcasts in the world.

His repeated lesson from those years is the thread through everything he does: question assumptions, run small cheap experiments instead of making huge bets, measure the results, and do not wait decades for retirement to live the life you want.
